  Warning before drilling

  OK so nice finished mirror just what we were after, looked like a simple couple of screws for installation, should only take five minutes, oh boy that was a mistake, the two screws provided can only be used in the two vertical holes as the back place will not fit if you use any other of the holes on the back plate. Something I discovered after drilling two holes in my bathroom tiles using the offset screw holes then finding the back plate would no longer fit flush with the mirror and despite a number of hours trying to find screw with smaller heads ended up resorting to drilling two more holes, what a nightmare two hours later I have finally fitted the mirror, so be warned only use the two vertical hole on the back plate

  Good quality mirror, if a little expensive

  Very good mirror and good quality although It is a little expensive. The only real downside is the ability to quickly remove the mirror, from its wall mount, for charging. I have to run an extension lead into the bathroom to charge it. That being said, I have purchased another Simple Human desk top lamp for my wife’s dressing table, as the clarity of the mirror reflection, with the light on, is very good.

  Quality design

  Bought this mirror for our new bathroom. We wanted a battery operated one as I didn’t want the hassle of wiring in a supply.Love the design and when it arrived the finish and construction is first class.Unfortunately the X5 magnification meant that using the mirror was quite difficult. My face had to be quite close for the image to focus which made shaving difficult, so regrettably I returned it.I will buy a alternate Simple Human product instead.

  Really good features

  Very good magnification and a great idea that it’s battery operated but rechargeable with a cable connected to my USB socket. The cable can be tucked away in a drawer when not in use which keeps the dressing table tidy. The mirror pushes back flat against the wall when not in use. It automatically lights up and switches off when you approach/move away from the mirror. The only bad bit of design is that the charger is fiddly to get into the mirror’s charger socket - it’s very small and not visible once the mirror is wall mounted. Quite expensive but, for me, well worth the money.

  Couldnt live without it

  I dont know how I managed without this. The initial charge lasted 3 months. I did have trouble getting it to take the 2nd charge and thought it was faulty but after some persistence it starting to work. It looks super sleek and the fact it light up as you approach it means less finger prints on the beautiful finish. I do wish you could adjust the lighting as it did take getting used to how bright it was

  What a really nice piece of kit. Good size, well mounted and adjustable. The lighting is excellent and we’ve had this for about a year and it’s only needed charge 3 or 4 times.

  Looks great, works well - for a while

  Looks great, works well. Has been known to turn itself on in a steamy atmosphere with no face nearby, but that's not really a problem.Update: after five years, and out of warranty, it stopped working. Instead of lighting up when it detects a face, it just flashes briefly and doesn't stay illuminated. Weirdly, it does still work but only so long as the battery charger is connected. Sadly, SimpleHuman don't offer a repair service and will not supply spare parts. I managed to source a replacement battery, no thanks to SimpleHuman, but the problem persists, so not a faulty battery. Something wrong in the circuitry, probably a cheap capacitor failed and tragically turned this expensive mirror into landfill.

  Great mirror - don't fit on UK back box

  Great mirror of the future - just what a mirror should be.Only thing to watch is it has to be installed on a wall as it will not fir over a UK eclectic back box.The instructions say it fits all, I spoke to customer services about how it could fit a UK version and they said they had never had any complaints!However it will not fit on a standard UK back boxStill a great mirror

  Excellent quality but with some functionality issues

  The idea and design is great and the construction solid. However the magnification is really dramatic and I find it gives such a limited depth of field as a result that it makes it less comfortable to use for shaving and impossible for coming your hair. That said it is probably ideal for make-up (but will do nothing for your self-esteem!)On a more significant note the extension arm is worryingly stiff and I fear that as this means putting significant stress on the wall-fixing that it will come away from the wall in time.

  Terrible - stopped working after only 5 months

  Great mirror, but stopped charging after only 5 months. Now the light doesn't work at all, and the mirror doesn't charge or turn on. Considering this cost £150 that's terrible. Avoid
