- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 July 2014Westinghouse Bendan 132 cm/ 52-inches Ceiling FanI considered this to be quite expensive but you do get what you pay for. On speeds 1 & 2 it is silent. The only time you get a slight noise is on speed 3 but that is from the blades moving through the air. At speed 3 it will blow the newspaper off the coffee table!.Installation instructions are good. You fix the mounting bracket (make sure you use decent screws going into a ceiling joist. This is a heavy bit of kit.) You then connect the wiring to the terminal block on the bracket. After some more assembly you lift the motor unit onto the bracket and connect the pre-fitted plugs. There's no balancing it on your shoulder while you try to wire it in.The only trouble I had was aligning the screws for the fan blades but I got the hang of it in the end.I would have preferred lighter coloured fan blades. They are quite dark but that's just a personal preference. The remote control works well. Fan speeds 1 2 & 3 and off of course. Light on off and a dimmer. My wife is disabled and loves the fact she can control it from her armchair while watching horse racing on TV.It's still new to us so I'll update if we get any problems.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 January 2015Excellent fan, big but with a low profile, and completely silent.Very nice fan. Some useful information:- Has a low drop- It is completely silent on the lowest setting. Highest setting it wobbles a bit and I am not totally sure I would trust that, but the highest setting is like a whirlwind.- Direction is reversible via a switch on the side.- Remote control is an IR remote, fan has 3 speeds. The bulb is dimmable.- Installation wasn't particularly difficult for someone like me who has no idea what they're doing. Two person job for some bits but nothing major.- Looks pretty good- It is very big. Verrrrrry big. But it doesn't drop down far. Check you have enough ceiling space to install this.- It is very heavy. Like, much heavier than you'd think. So make sure your roof is strong enough to support it.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 September 2019Great for those hot nights.Wish we'd got one for our bedroom years ago. Makes those hot stuffy nights much more bearable. You need to know what you're doing to fit this fan but if you do it's not too complicated. Once in place it is stable and runs smoothly and on the slowest setting it makes very little noise, a kind of comforting amount actually that makes it easy to sleep through. It take a bit of time to get used to using the remote to switch the light on and off with so that you can switch the fan on and off from bed.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 October 2018An Ideal ApplianceWith the summer heatwave this year it became necessary to have some means of moving air to cool a largish room. Had considered Dyson fans but they're so expensive and for the price of one of them it was possible to get two of these and have change! Once in place these fans need no storage space either when not in use plus they will work in reverse to push warm air down from the ceiling during autumn/winter time as well as replacing the central room light. As long as the fitting instructions were followed diligently they posed no problems to install, the important fact being to use double-pole rather than single-pole light switches. Nifty to have remote units to work them too. I suppose the only point I'd complain about is the fact that the remotes can't be individually programmed to respective fans.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 March 2019great value used like newcracking price used like new must of been a customer return all sealed, went together well and easily installed once finding the ceiling joist.Remote works well (no dimming function) fan runs virtually silent on mode 1 swapped out the R7S 78mm halogen bulb for a 78mm Osram LED bulb looks the part!Well worth the 80 quid we paid for open box but wouldn't pay 140! I would price around the 100-115 markEDIT we have 3 of these fans in different rooms well worth the money although we paid £80 , £108 and £109 for ours warehouse deals
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 July 2021Real Shame! The fan lights are fantastic. Or they were……I ordered 2. The first one went wrong within the week, it started to make a horrid sound, poss the bearings? It got sent back. The second one has now started to make a noise, not as loud but something is loose. My partner is an electrical engineer so these have been fitted correctly and more. This one will have to come down over the next few days when he has time. Real shame as they work well and look good. However…..they need to last longer than 2 weeks!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 August 2021Read all the information and no dimmer switchLove the ceiling fan light .. but no dimmer switch on the remote .. it was sold as having one and the light itself is very bright but you don’t know that till the light is installed .. did call amazon who tried to get hold of the manufacturer but to no avail .. had electrician install it .. and looks fantastic.. just a shame about the dimmer
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 July 2021"Loud" and "unstable"I wanted a fan that I could have in my bedroom so I bought this one and I have had this fan since 2018.The motor has always been so dame loud, even on the first fan speed It swings back and forth and makes squeaking noises. speed level three is almost unusable, Its swing and wobbles so much. its so unevenly weighted.I never figured out how to connect the IR receiver correctly, or if there even is a correct way to do so. I sort of had do jam it between my ceiling and the metal cover so the cable almost got cut, There is a hole in the cover but the cable connector is way to big to fit in that hole. The installation was tricky. there is so many cables and connectors, and there is a huge power/controller brick and all this you have to mash together to make it all fit under the dame metal cover. it was very frustratingSo now about the noise levels:The sound level in my room when nothing is turned on is about 24 dbA (its what we normally call quiet)Speed level one: 32 dbASpeed level two: 40 dbASpeed level three: 38 dbA (the reason is because the motor is much quieter because I guess its on max speed, ad it does not really have to regulate the speed in the same was as it needs to do when on slower speed but I don't know for sure) but you will get the squeaking noise when on speed level 3.So buying this for my bedroom was a huge mistake.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 June 2020very good quality.Very well made, all the wiring and connectors are good quality, it is very heavy so needs to be screwed into something solid, the instructions are accompanied by diagrams so with patience reasonably easy to follow, the motor is very quiet, you can only hear the blades moving through the air, with the television or radio on you do not notice it, it does an excellent job of moving the air about and keeping the room feeling cool, the remote control also works well, for the money a very good product.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 May 2019Love this fan!I have 6 of these in my house and I love every last one of them. Plus points is that they are quiet and move a lot of air in whatever room they are in. Speeds 1&2 are quiet; no idea why there is a 3rd, I grew up in the US and have never been able to turn any fan on to the third setting. They do look good in a modern house and my family loves what they add to comfort of our home. The remote makes for a simple install and any remote will control all of them when pointed in the general direction (for when the kids lose one). The only downside is that I have to go to a major hardware store to get LED bulbs for them. Westinghouse bafflingly ships these with halogen bulbs?!? Annoying but nothing that a fiver can't fix.

This is what I would do. Measure the space between the joist that are nearest to where you want the fan. Use a piece of timber of the same dimensions as the joists and fix it between the joists by long screws through the joist (holes in joists are the same size as the screws you will use) length of screws will be width of joists plus 1 inch into the stud. I would also use angle brackets with 1 inch screws. The stud will now be firm enough for the fan. Shame I couldn't attach a diagram. Good luck ð~. see less
- Cannot get the light to dim. Only an on button and an off button. Do I need to buy a different bulb from the one supplied? This "old one" 78557 should come with a dimmable RC (visible on the rising-symbol). But the newer ones only get a ON-OFF-function (visible on the bulb-symbol, and ON/OFF-label on the receiver). Ask your seller for your type.
- i installed my fan put the mains power back it make on ..On its own and could not turn it off by the remote so i add to turn it off by the mains againIf the RC doesn´t work on both channels (motor&light) maybe the receiver is not right installed. Please check the chain: mains>input>output>to fan. (it´s also possible to "bridge" the RC, then it´s complete out of function)
