    • Does the dimmer switch allow for turning if off completely (rather than just turning the dimmer right down or unplugging it)?
Yes you just keep turning and it clicks off .
    • Is it norm for the salt crystals to start crumbling and a puddle of water gather at the Base?
Salt lamps tend to collect moisture from the air which builds up and then causes the lamp to leak water. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to leave salt lamps on for 16 hours+ in order to keep the heat within the lamp. Hope this helps :)
    • it is real salt or pink plastic lamp with some salt on ?
Hello, this was a gift, but I have never had a salt lamp which was plastic coated with salt. They are usually cut from salt caverns then shaped and made into lamps. The manufacturer should say where the salt comes from. I hope this might be of some help, yours Gladys
